Our Leadership
Steve Wood - Pastor

Steve was born and raised in the Marysville area by parents who were an active and vital part of their home church. He asked Jesus into his heart at 11 years old. Within a couple of years he became increasingly aware of the call of God on his life to and preached his first sermon at 13 years old.

In the fall of 1980 Steve, his wife Colleen and their young daughter moved to Circleville Ohio where he pursued a bachelor’s degree in Christian Ministry at Circleville Bible College. Following graduation he pastored for two years near Oxford Ohio before returning to the Marysville area. He then attended Ashland Theological Seminary where he earned a master’s degree in Pastoral Psychology & Counseling. During this time he was pastoring his home church in Milford Center. He pastored there for 12 years and had an active marriage-counseling ministry as a part of his pastoral role. Following that pastorate, Steve attended the Columbus Vineyard for three years and under the Lord's leading planted the Vineyard Church of Marysville.

The church was started with a core of approximately 12 people in September 2000. Steve’s desire is to see God build a strong and vibrant church where people encounter God in life-changing ways. He particularly has a strong passion to see marriages and families thrive and function as God intended. Steve and his wife Colleen continue to live in Milford Center.

Jim McFarlane - Elder

Jim is a founding member of the Vineyard Church of Marysville. He sits on the board of elders, leads a small-group bible study, and co-leads the popular marriage enrichment workshop, “ Love and Respect”.
Jim is core leader in the newly emerging organization, “Men United in Christ”. A group dedicated to fostering unity among men in our community regardless of church affiliation, and assists with Power Surge Teen Expo, an annual inter-church event supporting the teens in our community.

Jim holds advanced degrees in agriculture from the University of Illinois and operates an international e-commerce business. He and his wife Sharon have lived in the Marysville area since 1997.

The Leadership Advisory Council

The Leadership Advisory Council serves as an advisory role to the Pastor and Board of Elders. The role of the Council is to:

  1. Help generate ideas by serving as a “think tank,” making use of the collective insight of the group.
  2. Function as a “sounding board” for the Pastor and Elders to help them gage the potential soundness of an idea and/or the potential response of the congregation.
  3. Function as a connection point between the Pastor and Elders and the larger church body. This functions in two ways.
    • Help the congregation to understand and process information regarding decisions that have been made.
    • Help the Pastor and Elders to better understand any ideas, concerns or confusion within the congregation regarding church life.
  4. Occasionally help develop and/or implement various programs or ideas as specifically empowered by the Elder Board.
  5. Participate in the selection of Elders or a new Pastor as defined in the Constitution.
Tony Pfarr - Associate Pastor

Tony was born and raised in New Guinea by parents who served as medical missionaries. He moved to Marysville in 1973 where he met and married his wonderful wife Susie. A graduate of the Ohio State University, he and his wife have been associated with the Vineyard for over 20 years. They attended Vineyard at Tuttle Crossing prior to coming to the Marysville Vineyard, where Tony and Susie served in various leadership roles and various ministries.

Here at the Marysville Vineyard Tony serves and provides over-site in several Tony and Susie during the 2007 mission trip to Macapá, Brazil areas such as Worship, Youth, Missions and Counseling. Tony has a passion to know God intimately and to see others grow and experience intimacy with the Lord. He is passionate about seeing the Lord’s Kingdom come and His children set free.

Tony and his wife Susie live in Marysville with their 6 children, 2 dogs and a plethora of cats.

Mike Schmenk - Elder

Originally from Ottawa, Ohio, Mike moved to Marysville in 1993 from Westerville, Ohio were he and his family lived for seven years. Mike graduated from Ohio Northern Univ. in Ada, Ohio with a B.S.B.A. in accounting in 1980 and went on to pass his C.P.A. exam in 1981 and the Certified Financial Planner exam in 1992. He has been self employed since 2001 and the Treasurer of the Marysville Library since November 2002 and church Treasurer.

As a founding member, Mike led a home group out the Cooper Road church which became the Marysville Vineyard in 2003. "My passionate is to see our home groups continue to strengthen and evolve. The Vineyard philosophy has always been to build strong home groups and to get everyone involved in ministry. That and the worship is what really drew Chris and me to the Vineyard."

Mike and his wife Chris have been married since 1981 and have two children.

Lisa Morrison - Administrative Coordinator

Lisa was born in Wichita Falls TX as an Air Force brat! By the time she was 6 years old her family relocated to Fairborn, OH and stayed put. Lisa her husband John and family moved to Marysville in April of 2000. She has an extensive background in office management and worked in the medical field for 19 years. She began attending the Marysville Vineyard when they were at Mill Valley elementary and has been the administrator here at the church since August 2004.

As the administrator to the Senior Pastor and Associate Pastor as well as the Compassion Ministry leader, Lisa participates with the Leadership Advisory Council and is active in the community with the Emergency Assistance Program and Homeless Coalition.
